Now you no longer have to login to IRCTC portal simply to check trains and seat availability or to get details on trains between stations, according to Ministry of Railways.
Recently, Indian Railways has completely revamped their IRCTC website (IRCTC Next Generation) and brought a new feature to make their services even more convenient. Passengers will no longer have to login to IRCTC site just to check availability of seats and know about trains between stations.
In a new release, the ministry added, “With an aim to provide better user experience as part of Piyush Goyal (Union Minister of Railways) vision, he has recommended the best practices in Information Technology industry. Due to this reason, the online travel portal of Indian Railways, IRCTC has introduced beta version of its flagship user interface.”
When asked about the new features in the official website of Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), Indian Railway added, “By launching the new e-ticketing website interface, users can search or enquire trains and check seats availability without having to log in and save their valuable time.”
A user was previously prompted to log in before they search for any details on IRCTC website. According to the ministry, the new and redefined website would have enhanced filters on the basis of class, destination, departure, train, quota or arrival to further help passengers to plan their journeys.
The ministry added, “They will arrange single screen details about trains, such as train name, train number, destination and originating stations, departure and arrival time, distances between stations, and journey time.”
Some of the amazing features like “Waitlist Prediction” play a vital role to enhance the overall booking experience of the customers. It has come for the first time in Indian railways.
Ministry added, “Users can know the chances of waitlist or RAC tickets to be confirmed with this feature.”
According to the Railway officials, it uses algorithm and considers the past booking trends of a selected train. The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has developed a new version.
It said, “This feature will make online ticket booking system even more convenient on the railways.”According to the railways, the new and appealing color scheme for various trains with option to modify journey details will bring further convenience on journey planner page for the users.
According to the annual report on IRCTC website in 2016-17, the ticketing platform sold up to 5.7 lakh e-tickets every day on average. On “My Transactions”, there are more new filters and features where users can check their booking history on the basis of booking date, journey date, completed and upcoming journey.
The railways also added the facility to figure out availability of the whole period of Advanced Reservation, i.e. around 120 days, except for a couple of trains which have been offered.
In this new system, users can also conduct several activities with Booked Ticket History. There is an improved interface for various functions like printing tickets, cancellation of tickets, and request for further SMS, selecting alternative trains with VIKALP option and changing boarding point.
