Chhat Puja is a festival that is similar to Karva Chauth, however this festival is celebrated worshiping the sun. It is one o the most popular festivals in Northern India and Nepal. The Puja is performed by the banks of a water body which could be a river, a lake or the sea. It is performed during the day when the sun is out and it is usually performed by women.
This puja is performed in order to thank the sun or ‘Surya’ for keeping them and their loved ones healthy. Worshiping the sun during this festival is believed to keep you safe from all diseases and also helps in prosperity. Chhat Puja is celebrated over a period of four days and revolves around the sunset and sunrise. Chhat Puja usually falls on the fourth day after Diwali.
Chhath is a festival dedicated to the Sun God, considered to be a means to thank the sun for bestowing the bounties of life in earth and fulfilling particular wishes…..HAPPY Chhath….!!
